At Barlow’s Mill we focus on two agri-tourism events each year. In the summer we host the Pesto Festo, a culinary event that celebrates basil and honors the Italian heritage of the Concord Grape Belt. The gardens are planted with basil, garlic and parsley, the basic ingredients of basil pesto, and when harvested, pesto is created in the Barlow’s Mill kitchen. In July and August visitors may experience the whole process from picking basil to consuming the pesto on pasta or bread. The Pesto Festo is a one day celebration of pesto, not only the basil pesto made at Barlow’s Mill, but a variety of pestos made by local restaurants for sampling. There are wagon-ride vineyard tours, walking garden tours, live music, wine tasting, children’s activities and handcrafted products from small regional farms.
